Profit for Good is a movement to redirect profit to where it does the most good, and to make that the new corporate norm. Today, global corporate profits are estimated at around $10 trillion, while charitable donations total only about $71 billion, less than 1%. If that were to become 10%, then, in a single year, that could help eradicate malaria and HIV, and lift millions out of poverty.

We're building the organization to make this happen by uniting companies in a trusted peer network, amplifying their stories, and testing and scaling what works. Launched by The School for Moral Ambition and co-founded with philosopher Peter Singer, Profit for Good is now establishing itself as an independent foundation and growing its first group of pioneering companies, with a kickoff in November 2026 and a conference in June 2027.

about the role

As we formalize our governance, we're inviting expressions of interest for a seat on our supervisory board. You would join Peter Singer and Wendy van Ierschot in providing mission-based leadership and strategic oversight as Profit for Good grows from a bold idea into a global movement.

This is a chance to shape the direction of a young organization at a pivotal moment, and to help prove that business can be a powerful force for good.

While the day-to-day work is led by the organization's director, Julia van Boven (co-founder The School for Moral Ambition), the supervisory board provides governance, stewardship, and support.

Key responsibilities

As a board member you would:

  • Safeguard the mission and approve strategy, annual plans, and budget
  • Oversee that the organization remains legally, ethically, and ANBI compliant
  • Support and have the opportunity to constructively challenge the executive lead
  • Set and uphold governance rules, including on conflicts of interest
  • Act as an ambassador by opening doors, strengthening our networks, and lending credibility to the movement

What We’re looking for

We'd love to hear from people who share our conviction that profit can be a force for good, and who bring one or more of the following:

  • Financial and/or governance expertise (a treasurer profile)
  • Impact or philanthropy expertise
  • Entrepreneurial experience and a strong network among profitable, purpose-driven businesses

Above all, we're looking for people with integrity and good judgment who will be engaged, collaborative, and genuinely energized by the mission.

What we offer

The chance to grow a global alliance, together with one of the most influential philosophers, The School for Moral Ambition and inspiring business leaders from all around the world.

Application process

  1. Express your interest via our short form.
  2. 30-minute intro call with Julia. An informal conversation to get to know each other and explore fit.
  3. Call with Peter and Wendy. A longer conversation with two of our board members to go deeper on the role, expectations, and what you'd bring.
  4. Reference and conflict-of-interest check, followed by a board decision.

We review expressions of interest on a rolling basis. We aim to finalize the process by August 2026.
