The School for Moral Ambition attracts and mobilizes exceptional talent to address the world’s most pressing challenges. We need our brightest minds to make pandemics history, end factory farming, fight the tobacco industry, safeguard our democracies, and these are just a few examples. Please read our founding principles for a better insight into our mission and guiding values.

Moral ambition began as an idea on a page. Today it’s coming to life all over the world: through our Fellows, our Circle Starters, and a growing community of people taking real steps toward work that matters. We’re hiring two interns to help carry that forward, described separately below.

about the role

Communications Intern. Help us show the world what moral ambition looks like in action. You’ll support the communications team across campaigns, social and email content, newsletters, and video, and pitch and develop your own story ideas (see examples).

Community Intern. Help keep our community alive and thriving. At its heart are our Circle Starters: trained facilitators running peer learning groups. You’ll make sure they feel supported, keep our community spaces active and warm, and support the Circle Program day to day. A hands-on role with real ownership, and one whose shape will evolve with your interests and the team’s needs.

Key responsibilities

Communications Intern

  • Support the communications team with day-to-day tasks and campaigns.
  • Pitch, research, and develop your own story ideas.
  • Assist with social media and email marketing content creation and planning.
  • Contribute to creative projects, from newsletters to video content.

Community Intern

  • Moderate and maintain our community spaces: welcoming new members, keeping discussions active.
  • Collect member feedback through surveys and informal outreach, and summarize findings for the team.
  • Track and analyze basic engagement metrics (active members, post activity, event attendance) and flag patterns.
  • Support community events (drinks, meetups, ad-hoc gatherings) with logistics and day-of coordination.
  • Keep Circle Program content up to date and support onboarding for new Circle Starters.
  • Collect participant testimonials and stories, and assist with program maintenance and documentation.

What We’re looking for

Communications Intern

  • A driven communications (or related) student.
  • Strong writing and communication skills (English proficiency required).
  • A proactive, curious, and creative mindset.
  • Bonus skills (not required): graphic design, photography, social media content planning, or video (scripting or editing).

Community Intern

  • A community-minded person who genuinely enjoys creating welcoming spaces for others.
  • Strong written communication skills in English.
  • Organized and reliable: you follow through and don’t let things slip.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of ongoing responsibilities.
  • Affinity with impact-oriented work or career development topics is a plus.

Note: You must already be living in the Netherlands and able to commute to our Amsterdam office. We cannot support relocation or visa sponsorship for these positions.

What we offer

  • A gross stipend of €1,067 per month.
  • A fun, supportive, and impact-driven team.
  • A beautiful office in Amsterdam, including daily shared vegan lunches.
  • Monthly 1:1s with your supervisor and a personal learning plan tailored to your goals.
  • Mentorship and real responsibility from day one.
  • The chance to shape communications, or build community, for one of the most exciting new global movements.

Application process

  • Apply through our form by July 12, end of day. Indicate which role(s) you’re applying for.
  • Complete a short test task (1–2 hours) the week after the deadline.
  • First interview (30 minutes) with a team member.
  • Final interview (30 minutes) with the relevant Team Lead the following week.
