Films

In our new documentary series Moral Ambition Films Presents, we spotlight pioneers who’ve traded prestige for purpose professionals who have reimagined their careers to take on humanity’s biggest challenges.

The first episodes take you behind the scenes of our Moral Ambition Fellowships. From an off-grid retreat on a remote island, where trust is built and bold ideas take root, to the corridors of power in Brussels, where fellows learn how to turn ideals into policy.

N° 1
addiction

Addiction takes many forms. For some, it’s the grip of products like tobacco on our health. For others, it’s a career path they no longer believe in but can’t seem to leave behind.

In our first episode, we meet Eline Goethals and Vaibhav Jain: two fellows who left high-status careers to tackle one of the world’s deadliest industries head-on. “Some think we’ve already beaten Big Tobacco,” says co-founder Rutger Bregman. “But if you look at the vaping epidemic or the rise in tobacco deaths in poorer countries, the truth is: we’re not winning yet.”

N° 2
privilege

Many of us underestimate the power we already have to make change. Early in your career, giving back can feel like a distant goal. But by the time you “arrive,” it’s easy to lose the idealism you started with.

“People who begin idealistic can grow cynical,” says co-founder Rutger Bregman, “especially if they’re stuck in jobs where they don’t find like-minded peers.” In this episode, we meet fellows Michele Galli and Camille Sharara. Both left successful careers behind to pursue deeper purpose — and joined a movement for change.

Our Manifesto

Our movement started with a book. In Moral Ambition, Rutger Bregman reveals how the conventional definition of success is broken and how a movement of moral pioneers can change it.
